The Budapest Stock Exhange's main BUX index rose 0.96% to 15,297.67 on Friday.

OTP Bank gained 1.54% to HUF 3,041, oil and gas company MOL advanced 0.35% to HUF 14,250, drug maker Richter rose 0.94% to HUF 30,550 and Magyar Telekom advanced 1.72% to HUF 474.

Analysts interviewed by MTI gave uncertain expectations for Friday's trading after Thursday's dramatic fall on the BSE. Peter Varjú of Erste Investment said he expected to see a correction based on more moderate falls on Asian bourses and on futures markets.

Zsolt Balásy of Concorde Securities said he could not see any clear signs of calming down after Thursday's "massacre": commodities are plunging, and the dollar is not weakening.

The BUX plunged 5.97% to 15,152.54 on Thursday, on turnover of HUF 17bn.
