The Budapest Stock Exchange's main BUX index opened down 2.51% at 15,711.32 on Thursday.

OTP Bank lost 4.76% to HUF 3,200, oil and gas company MOL fell 2.72% to HUF 14,300, drug maker Richter dropped 1.07% to HUF 32,250 and Magyar Telekom dipped 1.46% to HUF 473.

Analysts interviewed by MTI said both European futures and Asian markets had pointed to a negative opening, and markets are also adversely influenced by worse-than-expected Chinese data.

Later in the day, the Hungarian central bank's inflation report could give trading a direction, CIB Bank's analysts said.

Ottó Izbéki of Buda-Cash told MTI that both US and European markets are influenced by Wednesday's Fed meeting.

The BUX closed down 1.32% at 16,115.36 on Wednesday, on turnover of HUF 14.3bn.
