BUX opens down 1.41%

The Budapest Stock Exchange's main BUX index opened down 1.41% at 17,209.34 on Tuesday.

OTP Bank fell 1.53% to HUF 3,350, oil and gas company MOL dropped 1.50% to HUF 17,040, drug maker Richter slipped 1.39% to HUF 35,500 and Magyar Telekom fell 0.99% to HUF 501.

Analysts interviewed by MTI said the index to remain in the red for the full session on Tuesday.

Ákos Kuti of Equilor Befektetési saw a chance for an upturn only if a boost comes from US company reports.

András Somi of KBC Securities also cited the reports, and also drew attention on a speech to be held by FED president Ben Bernanke at a Boston conference in the evening.

The BUX index closed slightly up on Monday, rising just 0.04% to 17,456.33 on turnover of HUF 16.8bn.
