BUX loses 0.8% on Standard and Poor’s downgrade

The Budapest Stock Exchange’s blue-chip BUX index closed Thursday trade down 0.80% to 17,462.51, sustaining a counter-trend decline on S&P’s Wednesday-evening downgrade of Hungary’s long-term credit rating.

The BUX lost 140.48 points on a composite exchange turnover of HUF 14.46bn, fluctuating in a 1.64% range between an intra-session low of 17,180.26 shortly after morning bell and an intra-session high at the index’s closing mark of 17,462.51.

BSE blue-chips stood as follows at Thursday’s closing bell:

Drug company Richter lost 3.02% to HUF 35,000 on a turnover of HUF 846m;

Oil and gas company MOL declined 1.39% to HUF 17,750 on a turnover of HUF 2.36bn;

OTP Bank gained 0.83% to HUF 3,383 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 10.06bn;

Magyar Telekom advanced 0.19% to HUF 522 on a turnover of HUF 688m.

The BSE Big Four generated 96.5% of the exchange’s composite Thursday turnover.
