BUX gains 0.85% on late rally

The Budapest Stock Exchange's blue-chip BUX index closed Wednesday trade up 0.85% to 16,629.75, as late advances from bourse heavyweights OTP Bank and MOL lifted the index to its first gain in a week.

The BUX jumped 180 points in the final minutes of trade, closing the BSE's Wednesday session up 140.40 points on a composite exchange turnover of HUF 15.99 billion. The BUX fluctuated in a 2.4% range between an intra-session high of 16,802.55 shortly before 1:00 p.m. and an intra-session low of 16,398.16 shortly before 4:00 p.m.

BSE blue-chips stood as follows at Wednesday's closing bell:

Drug company Richter gained 3.06% to HUF 33,825 on a turnover of HUF 822 million;

Oil and gas company MOL advanced 0.82% to HUF 14,780 on a turnover of HUF 3.97 billion;

OTP Bank gained 0.33% to HUF 3,650 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 9.85 billion;

Magyar Telekom advanced 0.21% to HUF 483 on a turnover of HUF 1.16 billion.
