Bookings for the summer season at Lake Balaton are already up more than 50% as compared to two years ago, according to Balatontourist deputy head Ferenc Székely, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

Balatontourist, which operates 17 campsites/caravan parks around the lake, expects this year’s summer season to be better than last year, when sales were hurt by bad weather. Last year a total of 618,000 guest nights were spent at the camping sites around the lake by approximately 173,000 visitors.

MTI noted that the company spends more than HUF 100 mln a year on developments and saw a revenue of HUF 1.7 bln last year.
