Bids for Kapuvári Hús to be submitted by May 3

Bids for the assets of troubled meat company Kapuvári Hús and its unit Kapuvári Bacon can be submitted by May 3, according to the open tender announcement published in the official company gazette Cégközlöny. Liquidator Nemzeti Reorganizációs Nonprofit offered the assets for HUF 2 billion, Econews reported on Thursday. Kapuvári Hús owes its creditors more than HUF 8 billion. The government declared Kapuvári Hús of “special significance” in last September. Government spokesman András Giro-Szász said at the time that the declaration was made to prevent assets from being removed from the company, putting jobs in danger. Companies declared of “special significance” are subject to different liquidation procedures than conventional companies.
