Amendment to telephone tax would lower cap for 2012

Telco

An amendment to a government bill on a telephone tax would lower the monthly cap for this year.

The amendment, approved by Parliament's Economy and IT Committee as well as the Budget and Audit Committee, would lower the monthly cap per subscriber to HUF 400 for personal individuals and HUF 1,400 for companies this year.

The cap from 2013 would remain the same as in the original bill submitted by the government: HUF 700 for personal individuals and HUF 2,500 for companies.

The tax on telephone calls and text messages, payable by service providers, will be introduced from July 1, if approved by Parliament.
