A space science research team at ELTE University's department of geophysics and space science will lead an international program helping the unperturbed operation of satellites and spacecraft by providing forecasts based on data recorded on land, the university said on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The launch of the FARBES project is supported by Horizon Europe with a total budget of more than EUR 850,000, of which ELTE will receive EUR 242,625, it said.

The FARBES project aims to use plasmasphere and radiation belt models in the European Space Agency's space security program, it added.

Other participants of the project are France's Office National d'Etudes et de Recherches Aerospatiales, the British Antarctic Survey, the Czech Academy of Sciences' institute of atmospheric physics, the University of Athens, and the U.S. New Mexico Consortium.
