SMEs lagging behind in innovation

Innovation

There are a minority of companies in Hungary that have launched a new product in the recent period, according to the K&H innovation index, writes business daily Világgazdaság.

Acccording to the index, this was true for 43 out of 100 companies.

Some 43% of the companies surveyed have implemented an innovation in the past two years that has expanded their offering with a new service or product.

The size of the company thoroughly scattered the field. Of the companies exceeding HUF 10 billion, 69 out of 100 had such an innovative development. Also, while nearly 70% of large companies came out with a new product, only 38% of the smaller companies have done the same.

Companies invested in the industry and service sectors play a key role in developing new products, while commercial and agricultural companies lag behind.
