Number of undergrad applicants drop, IT applicants jump
The number of applicants for IT undergraduates increased significantly by 30% between 2009 and 2019, while the number of applicants for all undergraduates decreased by 16%.
Still, the steady IT increase previously seen was broken in 2020, according to IVSZ experts, writes hrportal.hu.
According to the experts, the decline was caused by the tightening of admission requirements and the introduction of advanced graduation, as a result of which there were generally fewer people enrolled in higher education, which also affected IT courses.
By 2022, the number of applicants for the general admission procedure further decreased slightly, but the decline was smaller than the average in the case of basic IT courses.
