Mérnök-Tér developing cheaper way to make metal containers

Hungarian engineering company Mérnök-Tér is spending HUF 518 million on a project to develop a way of manufacturing metal containers that cuts production costs by 79%, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The company said it won a HUF 233 mln European Union grant for the project and is also borrowing HUF 150 mln to cover the cost.

The technology Mérnök-Tér is developing could cut production time from 45 minutes to as little as seven minutes, cutting the costs of companies from the automotive to the food sector.

Mérnök-Tér had revenue of HUF 150 mln in 2019.
