GVH Orders Fizetési Pont to Offer Rebates

Hungary's Competition Office (GVH) yesterday said it ordered bank card terminal operator Fizetési Pont to offer clients rebates for conducting misleading sales campaigns, according to napi.hu.
In sales campaigns in 2020-2021, Fizetési Pont convinced clients, mostly microbusinesses and small businesses, they had to sign a three- to five-year contract for payment services from a sister company to take delivery of their bank card terminals.
GVH ordered Fizetési Pont to offer clients who got bank card terminals during the campaign rebates of HUF 8,000 apiece.
The authority noted that the combined value of the repayments would exceed the HUF 17 million fine with which it could have sanctioned Fizetési Pont.
GVH acknowledged the voluntary remedial measures Fizetési Pont had taken.
