State Sec: Roche, Nestlé consider further investments in Hungary

Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche and food company Nestlé are considering making further investments in Hungary, Hungarian foreign ministry state secretary László Szabó said after discussions at the two companiesʼ headquarters on Friday.
Roche is looking to add about 100 people to its 500 employees working at its Budapest service centre after having extended the lease of the Budapest office, Szabó said. Roche carries out clinical research in Hungarian hospitals and its trading division will soon introduce three new drugs.
An expansion of Nestléʼs pet food plant at Bük could create more than 100 jobs, Szabó said, adding that Nestlé is in talks with Hungaryʼs state investment agency HIPA on the matter. Nestlé is present at four locations in Hungary and employs about 2,000 people here.
During his visit to Switzerland, Szabó also met his counterpart Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch.
