Hungarian startup wins competition
Hungarian startup Bookr Kids won the Women Startup Competition Europe 2016, during the closing event of Hungarian innovation festival Brain Bar Budapest, according to a press release issued today.
The interactive book application aims to encourage children to read fairy tales in a digital era. After a free registration and a “minimal subscription fee, fairy tale books of a whole bookstore are available to be read”, the press release says.Â
Some 12 applications were competing for the final prize, out of the 160 participants arriving from countries all over the world. Some 17 of participating teams were Hungarian.
A professional jury of experts led by U.S. Ambassador to Hungary Colleen Bell chose the best applications. The jury members evaluated the startup applications in an online process.
Along with the Women Startup Competition Europe 2016, the Hungarian startup’s application also won top prize at region’s biggest startup competition CEE Lift Off, Tamás Müller, founder of the Women Startup Competition said.
In connection with the Hungarian competition, the founder said that the high rate of interest in the competition was surprising, and currently negotiations are ongoing to organize the event on other continents as well.
