By the end of June, Hungary had distributed 61% of the European Union funding allocated for programs of the first National Development Plan between 2004 and 2006, thus ranking third amongst the ten countries that joined the EU in May 2004.

The Human Resource Development Operative Program (HEFOP) used up €277 million; the Agricultural and Rural Development Operative Program (AVOP), €266 million; the Regional Development Operative Program (ROP), €217 million; the Economic Competitiveness Development Operative Program (GVOP), €292 million; and the Environmental Protection and Infrastructure Development Operative Program (KIOP), €161 million. Slovenia leads the group with 64%, followed by Estonia with 62%. (Napi Gazdaság)
