CEU programs receive high global rankings

The program in Politics & International Studies offered by the Central European University (CEU) ranks 41st worldwide, while both its Philosophy and Social Policy & Administration programs rank the 44th best in the world, according to the 2019 edition of QS World University Rankings.

Altogether, CEU tops the list of all Hungarian universities in no less than seven subject fields, according to the rankings.

Apart from the aforementioned three subjects, the university’s History program ranks in the top 100, and Sociology in the top 150 worldwide, while its offerings in Economics and Econometrics rank in the top 200, together with its Law program.

CEUʼs Business & Management Studies program ranks among the top 400 worldwide, and is the second best program domestically.

"CEU’s global reputation for excellence is once again confirmed by our performance in the QS rankings," said CEU President and Rector Michael Ignatieff in response to the rankings. "As a postgraduate university community, we are committed to sustaining the rigor of our research and the strength of our teaching."

The complete rankings can be seen here.

Quacquarelli Symonds’ (QS) World University Rankings by Subject evaluate universities that offer undergraduate and/or taught graduate programs; exceed minimum academic and employer reputation scores; and publish a minimum number of papers based on discipline. A total of 48 subjects taught at 1,222 institutions (including postgraduate-only institutions such as CEU) are ranked across the globe.
