Study: Salary gap sixfold in Hungary

The medium-level manager of an average firm earns six times more in Hungary, than an administrative employee of the same company who finished secondary school and has at least two years of work experience, a global study of Hay Group quoted by daily Világgazdaság presented.

The research was conducted in 61 countries, Hungary ranked among them 24th both in 2006 and 2007. Hungary’s figures close up on similar data of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Baltic states, while the difference is more than 900% in Romania and in Poland. Salary gaps are highest in China, where it could be 1,200%, but Brazil, Russia and India are also top ranked, Világgazdaság wrote. The narrowest gap is in Norway, where the boss earns only 2.3 times more than the office manager. In the US a middle manager makes four times as much as an office employee. (Gazdasági Rádió)
