OKI Data Corporation, an OKI Group company specializing in the printer business, announced that the company has completed the acquisition of the globally-deployed wide format printer business of Seiko I Infotech Inc. (SIIT), a subsidiary of Seiko Instruments Inc. (SII), from SII, according to an announcement issued yesterday.

OKI Data Infotech Corporation, created through the purchase, launched operations in October with capital of YEN 1 mln and a staff of 236, the announcement added. Through the move, OKI Data Infotech hopes to become an engine of growth for the corporation, particularly in the field of professional printing, the announcement added.

“It is a great step for us that with the purchase of SII … We were able to expand our portfolio to include development resources and sales channels. Our solutions supporting the printing industry, the retail and also the wholesale sector further strengthen the position of our company,” Takao Hiramoto, the President of OKI Data Corporation, said.
