NMHH clears Columbia Pictures purchase of Viasat

Competition

Hungary’s National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) approved the 100% purchase of satellite TV channel Viasat Hungária Műsorszolgáltató Zrt. by Columbia Pictures Corporation Limited, NMHH reported on Friday.

The final verdict on the merger will be made by the Hungarian Competition Office (GVH), but the NMHH also had to give its opinion. The media authority determined that the deal would not lead to a level of “ownership concentration” on the market that could threaten the variety of shows on offer.
