Hungary’s IT investments regionally mediocre
Hungary's information technology ranks in the middle of the spectrum of new European Union members, according to a report published on Thursday.
Estonia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic all have better levels of IT development than Hungary, which scored 3.7 on a scale of six in the CEE Technology Index, just over the 3.68 average of the eight new EU members in the region. The CEE Technology Index measures landline and mobile penetration, internet usage, the number of broadband connections, digital television services and the extent to which governments have set up electronic services for citizens. In general, a strong link exists between economic development and IT investments, the report by Roland Berger noted. At the same time there is no obvious link between deregulation in the telecom sector and improved IT infrastructure, it added.
