Hungary is following an international trend in which the number of information requests to the social media site regarding its users has been on a gradual incline in the past few years, origo.hu reported. If Facebook chooses to provide local authorities information on its users, IP addresses, locations as well messages sent and received through the platform may be shared, according to origo.hu.
A total of 185 information requests were made by the Hungarian government to Facebook regarding 224 users in first half of last year, while the government requested twice as much information about Facebook users in the second half of 2014 as compared to the first half.
