Hungarian environmentalists call for more democratic civil sector

The Council of Hungary’s National Civil Fund (NCA) has appointed a new representative for environmentalist organizations who is not supported by the relevant civil groups, online greenfo.hu reported on the statement by the civil organizations.
The 72 civil environmentalist groups, including WWF Magyarország and Greenpeace Magyarország, who signed the statement say that the whole process of giving the council the right of appointing the representative instead of democratically electing it is unacceptable.
The civil organizations had already chosen their representative themselves, who should be officially accepted if the government wants to sit at one table with the environmentalists, they said in the statement, without naming either the official representative or the one chosen by the civil organizations.
