GVH fines Auchan, charging misleading advertising

Competition

Hungaryʼs Competition Office (GVH) fined Auchan Magyarország HUF 56 mln on charges of unfair price comparison practices, GVH said today.

According to the competition office, Auchan claimed its prices were lower than its competitors, but it made the claim based on comparisons of dissimilar products, product volumes and mark-downs, GVH said.

Reacting to the news, Auchan said it partially agrees with the decision, but disputes some of GVHʼs reasoning and is considering legal steps, Hungarian news agency MTI said.
