Gambling legislation to be amended in 2014

After the rushing through Parliament of legislation in early December allowing for 11 new casinos to be established in Hungary, local news daily Népszava this week reported that the National Economy Ministry would be proposing a new amendment to the law when Parliament returns to session in 2014.
Said amendment would call for an official database of problem gamblers to be established and maintained; listed would be those with a court order prohibiting them from playing as well as those who choose to have their names listed. A casino which allowed entry to any person listed would be fined up to HUF 10 million per violation.
The ministry has reported that approximately 200,000 Hungarian citizens are considered addicted gamblers.
