Fidesz to submit amendments because of utilities companies conduct against price cuts

The head of a workgroup established by governing Fidesz to ensure utilities companies comply with a government mandated 10% reduction in household gas, electricity and district heating prices from the start of this year will submit amendments to legislation because of conduct by some service providers that opposes the measure. Szilárd Németh told Parliament on Tuesday that the amendments would end any opportunity for utilities companies to use \"tricks\" to get around the approved reduction in prices. He also said electricity distributor Elmű and district heating company Főtáv would be reported to the National Consumer Protection Office and the Hungarian Energy Office for statements to consumers concerning the price drops. He said the letter sent by Elmű to customers was \"full of...half truths and lies\". Utilities companies are required to clearly show consumers savings resulting from the reduction in their bills.
