DT gets EC approval for GTS CE purchase
The purchase of Poland-based telecommunications service provider GTS Central Europe (GTS CE) by Deutsche Telekom (T-Com) went forward yesterday, as the European Commission granted full official approval for the acquisition.
Deutsche Telekom first announced the signing of the deal to purchase GTS CE in November 2013 for €546 million in hopes of augmenting the company strategy “of building a pan-European network.”
With GTS CE serving some 35,000 business customers in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, T-Com sees an opportunity to “add fixed line networks in […] countries where its operations are primarily based on wireless services” with the buyout.
