Digital TV subscriptions share rises to 63.2%

Digital service subscriptions made 63.2% of all TV subscriptions of 2,908,000 at Hungary's biggest television companies at end of December 2012, the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) said on Tuesday. The ratio was 58.3% at the end of 2011 and was 61.4% at the end of June. Hungary must complete the switch to digital broadcasting by the end of 2014 the latest. The biggest companies had 1,836,000 digital subscriptions at the end of December 2012, up 26,000 from a month earlier and up 178,000 in twelve months. The number of their analog subscriptions fell 11,000 in a month and 113,000 in one year to 1,071,000 in December.
