Decree raises level of consumer protection in infocommunications

The head of Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has issued a decree that heightens consumer protection for subscribers to electronic infocommunications services.
The decree contains additional guarantees protecting the rights of subscribers and it clarifies instances in which contracts may be unilaterally modified. It also expands subscribers' entitlements if service providers fail to keep the terms of their contract.
The new decree takes effect on December 1.
