Competition Office fines Pannon Ft 16 mln for misleading ads

The Competition Office (GVH) has announced on Friday it has fined mobile service provider Pannon GSM Zrt Ft 16 million for incomplete information provided in its advertisements.

“In the competition supervision proceedings the Competition Council of the GVH concluded that the advertisements of Pannon GSM did not contain all the necessary conditions of obtaining a data card for free," the GVH said in a statement. According to the watchdog, Pannon failed to mention in its advertisements in the first half of 2006 that a new free-of-charge data card could be obtained upon the purchase of a new subscription only if the client signs a two-year loyalty agreement. The GVH imposed a fine of Ft 16 million on Pannon for its unlawful behavior. (portfolio.hu)
