Competition Office cites Magyar Telekom for service delays

Hungary's Competition Office (GVH) said on Tuesday it found Magyar Telekom Nyrt, Hungary's incumbent telco, had delayed without reason the removal of ADSL modems from clients who wished to switch service providers.
The GVH said there was no technical or business reason for the delays, which had been Magyar Telekom's regular practice up to August 20, 2005. GVH noted that it had decided not to fine Magyar Telekom because it had taken sufficient measures to correct this fault as soon as the GVH examination started.
Magyar Telekom provides ADSL services directly through its ISP unit T-Online, and also sells the right to use its network to other ISPs providing ADSL services.
