The offering of Hungarian online food delivery service NetPincér is now available via OTP Mobilʼs Simple app, allowing nearly 600,000 users to choose between dishes from more than 1,000 restaurants, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

According to data from OTP Mobil, the appʼs developer, the agreement with NetPincér was reached in order to accommodate increasing demand for food delivery services. The company registered twice as many food delivery-related payments in H1 2018 than during the corresponding period in 2017.

"We have concluded a number of strategic agreements recently, and we are constantly expanding our services," said OTP Mobil CEO Péter Benyó. "I think that while SimplePay has been the system behind NetPincérʼs online payments, the fact that they are included in the app now will allow our users to order food in a more comfortable and simpler way."

During the first half of 2018, users ordered more than 86,000 main courses, 6,900 side dishes, and 27,000 toppings, also double the amount of H1 2017. Pizza easily tops the list of the most popular items ordered, with more than 27,000 orders containing at least one pizza in H1 2018.

According to market researcher Nielsen, ordering food online is gaining popularity rapidly in Hungary, with 49% of customers using online platforms to have meals delivered. The press release states that ordering food on the internet is the third most popular online transaction in Hungary.
