Ruukki to expand steel capacity in Hungary

Ruukki Group, a Finnish maker of steel products, will spend €9 million to expand its capacity in Hungary, daily Világgazdaság reported, citing a company executive. Ruukki will make parts for steel-frame buildings at its new plant in Biatorbágy, 35 kilometers west of Budapest, said Béla Gyenes, head of the local production unit, according to the newspaper. Helsinki-based Ruukki is expanding in Eastern Europe to benefit from construction growth in the region, the newspaper said. It recently bought Poland's Metalplast-Oborniki Sp. z.o.o. and is expanding in Russia and the Baltic republics, according to Világgazdaság.
