Hungarian drug maker Gedeon Richter is expanding its biotechnology plant in Debrecen through an investment of HUF 15 billion, with the Hungarian government coming in at HUF 5 bln, according to a press release issued today.

Richter expects to create 125 new jobs through the expansion, as well as lift the export potential of the company, the press statement added. Currently the plant employs approximately 200 people.

The HUF 25 bln plant was opened four years ago, with government aid, and develops and manufactures bio-technologically produced pharmaceutical products, Hungarian news agency MTI reported earlier.
