Modern Media Group Befektetési és Vagyonkezelő Zrt. (MMG) was reportedly founded on April 9, with Árpád Habony as one of the owners, Hungarian online daily valasz.hu reported according to insider information. The firm is expected to become the central body responsible for the emerging new Fidesz-friendly media empire, the paper.

According to valasz.hu, Habony, who is often mentioned in the Hungarian media as the “chief consultant” of Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, is the 50% owner of MMG, while the other half is owned by Tibor Győri, whom the portal refers to as “state secretary close to Viktor Orbán” and who used to be responsible for the legal matters of the Prime Minister’s Office in the previous term.

The portal notes that MMG’s headquarters are located in the same location as the Fidesz-friendly daily Napi Gazdaság. The CEO of MMG, according to the paper, is Péter Keresztesi, who is also the CEO of Napi Gazdaság.

Earlier news reports mentioned Habony’s involvement in the new media empire, which valasz.hu says is to be launched with an opinion portal called via.hu. The online daily says that products of the new media outlet could involve a free weekly print edition, a radio station and a business news portal.
