The Hungarian Cable Communications Association (KBSZ) is protesting fees television service providers will have to pay commercial broadcasters RTL Klub and TV2, Hungarian daily Villaggazdaság reported today.

KBSZ yesterday sent a letter to the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) regarding commercial channels RTL Klub and TV2’s plans to require cable, IPTV, satellite and MMDS service providers to pay a net monthly HUF 294 and HUF 290, respectively, per subscriber, from July 1, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

KBSZ considers the program fees discriminative, not in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and not in the interest of consumers, KBSZ chairman Ferenc Kéry told the paper.
