More than 100,000 families raising children have applied for home renovation subsidies since the launch of a two-year government scheme in January 2021, state secretary for family affairs Róbert Zsigó said in a video message posted on Facebook on Monday.

Zsigó said the applications have been made for close to HUF 190 billion in subsidies.

Under the scheme, the government is offering to cover up to half of home renovation costs, with a grant capped at HUF 3 million, for families with at least one child. Families may take out a subsidized loan to cover the other half of project costs.
