The situation in the Budapest sublet market changed in May, according to profitline.hu. Budapest rents rose 1.4% compared to April when the previous month had seen a half percent decrease.

However, the growth rate of national rents has slowed, with only a monthly price increase of 0.7% in May, according to the KSH-ingatlan.com rent index.

Explaining the data, László Balogh, the leading economic expert of ingtalan.com, said that in a year-on-year comparison, national rents increased by an average of 10.5%, and those in Budapest by 10.8%.

On an annual level, average rents increased by 11.2-14.7% in Southern Transdanubia and the Northern and Southern Great Plain regions, higher than the national and Budapest price increases.
