About 74,000 Hungarians have firm plans to purchase or build a home in the coming year, news agency MTI reports, citing a representative survey by economic research company GKI and building materials maker Masterplast.

The survey, conducted in September, shows another 180,000 households will "probably" buy or build a home in the next 12 months.

Home sales in Hungary were a little over 117,000 in January-September, according to an estimate by real estate broker Duna House. Duna House expects full-year transaction numbers to be around 150,000.

The GKI-Masterplast survey suggests resale home prices in Hungary could rise a little over 3% in the coming 12 months, while new home prices climb 7%. Rental rates could increase 3%.
