More than 5% of respondents said they are certain to take up the government's home renovation subsidy program by the end of 2022, and a further 15% said they are likely to participate, according to the latest joint survey of economic research institute GKI and building materials company Masterplast, conducted in August, reports hvg.hu.

This suggests that more than 200,000 families have definite plans to renovate their homes, and around 250,000 are likely to embark on such projects, assuming that half of these plans are realized, GKI said.

Most families want to renovate interior spaces and bathrooms, and many plan to replace doors and windows and carry out thermal insulation work, GKI added.
