Business confidence slips, consumer confidence improves slightly in April
GKIʼs combined gauge of consumer and business confidence stood at -3.9 points in April, down from -2.8 points in the previous month.
The business confidence index fell to 2.2 points from 4.6 points as sentiment deteriorated in all sectors except commerce.
Industrial companiesʼ assessment worsened in terms of output in the previous period, order stock, including export orders, as well as prospects for the coming months.
Construction companiesʼ views of their output in the previous period worsened but their assessment of order stock was more positive.
Trade companiesʼ assessment of their selling position deteriorated while they were more positive about inventories and prospective orders.
Companies in the service sector gave more negative views of business in general but more positive turnover expectations.
The consumer confidence index rose to -21.1 points in April from -23.8 points in March. Householdsʼ outlook concerning their financial position improved though their expectations of their ability to put away savings worsened.
The seasonally-adjusted GKI index is supported with European Union funding.
