KSH: Construction permits up, built dwellings down in Q1-Q3
Although the number of residential construction permits issued was 24% more, at 8,616 in the first three quarters, than in the same period a year earlier in Hungary, the number of built dwellings was 9.5%, down to 4,657 in the period, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office reported yesterday.
Outside the capital the number of dwellings being built decreased by 9.5%, while in Budapest that number fell by 21%, however, it increased by 15% in towns of county rank, KSH reported.
“The 8,616 new residential construction permits issued were 24% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year; in Budapest 73% more housing construction was approved than a year earlier,” KSH said.
In reference to the purpose of constructed homes, 54% were built for own use and 43% for sale, KSH said. The average floor-area of homes put to use was 100 sqm, 2 sqm less than a year ago, KSH added.
