Every third home in Budapest sold for investment purposes
Much like last April (32%), roughly 33% of all home purchases made in the city last month were for investment purpose, according to data published by real estate broker Duna House, as cited in a report by Hungarian news agency MTI.
A brick home on the Buda side of the capital will cost on average, HUF 456,000 per sqm, while the same home will cost HUF 312,000 per sqm on the Pest side.
A pre-fabricated communist era flat will set you back HUF 333,000 per sqm on average in Buda, compared to HUF 300,000 in Pest, the MTI report stated.
Outside of the capital, about 21% of home purchases were for investment purposes. The average sqm price in April for a brick home outside of the capital was HUF 212,000 in the west, and HUF 191,000 in the east of Hungary, up from HUF 181,000 and HUF 158,000 respectively, as compared to last year, according to MTI.
