KSH: Construction sector output up 17.5%

Output of Hungary's construction sector climbed 17.5% year-on-year in July, accelerating from a 9.8% increase in the previous month, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) says in its report published today.

 The workday-adjusted figure also rose 17.5 % in July.

Seasonally and workday-adjusted output increased 4% month-on-month.

The construction of buildings rose 9.6% year-on-year. The construction of civil engineering works expanded a sharp 24.3% from the previous year, was boosted by railway and road construction works and by public utility projects.

Based on seasonally adjusted indices, the construction of buildings fell a  0.6%, while that of civil engineering works rose 2.1% from the previous month.

New orders showed a significant decline in July, down 17.8% from a year earlier. Orders for civil engineering works were almost 25% lower than the previous year.
