Hungary's Competition Office (GVH) announced the launch of an accelerated probe of the local insulation market last week amid "large-scale" price rises that "could be related to market distortion," according to novekedes.hu.
GVH said feedback it has received indicates problems "at all levels of the vertical value chain."
GVH noted that it has made the building materials market a focus since last year and has launched similar probes of the brick and lumber markets.
The probe of the insulation market is initially planned for 30 days.
