Construction output up 9.9% in March

Output of Hungary's construction sector rose 9.9% year-on-year in March, helped by a low base and road and railway construction, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Thursday. The same factors raised new orders up by more than one-fourth from a year earlier. The rise was the second one in a row following a downward-revised 6.6% increase in February. The increases came after four months of yr/yr decline. Output was up 2.1% month-on-month according to seasonally- and workday-adjusted figures after a 2.5% rise in February and a 1.6% drop in January. January-March output of the sector was 4.8% up from a year earlier after a 5.9% decline in 2012.
