The Hungarian subsidiary of U.S.-based pharmaceuticals firm Pfizer has been fined HUF 50 million by the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) on charges of misleading advertising, news agency MTI reported Tuesday. The company will reportedly appeal.

The GVH charged the company for misleading advertising with regard to the effects of its Multi-tabs Multi Kid product, as the advertising suggested that the product can substitute for a balanced, varied diet for kids, thereby making an unsubstantiated claim for its health effects, MTI reported. When setting the fine, the authority took into account the cost of the advertising.

In a statement sent to MTI after the fine was announced, Pfizer Hungary said it would be appealing the GVHʼs decision in court as it believes the ruling is unsubstantiated and that Pfizerʼs advertising practices did not conflict with regulations.
