Vote on 2016 budget bill moved to earlier date
The Hungarian government is scheduled to submit next year’s budget to Parliament by the end of April and the bill could be voted on by the end of the spring session, the National Economy Ministry confirmed late yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said earlier that the budget would be prepared by the end of the spring parliamentary session, precisely by mid-June. Despite the submission date being moved forward, there will still be time for the Fiscal Council and the State Audit Agency to review the draft, the ministry said.
The ministry further noted that Hungary must submit its updated Convergence Program to the European Commission by April. According to MTI the legal deadline for submitting the budget bill is October 15, except in election years.
