SK Opposition parties want Hungary-Slovakia tensions to end

Interview

The chairmen of the opposition parties - Mikuláš Dzurinda (SDKÚ), Pavol Hrušovský (KDH) and Pál Csáky (SMK) - said on October 11 that they want the escalated tensions in Slovak-Hungarian relations to come to an end.

According to Dzurinda, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico should act more responsibly, and more skillfully as well. He said Fico shouldn’t „stir up emotions”. Hrušovský said rekindling the issue of the Beneš Decrees was an unfortunate move.

The so-called eternal topics shouldn’t be opened when politicians cannot resolve them, he said. The KDH chairman called on everybody to be responsible, saying emotions have started to dominate over reason. But Hrušovský also warned Csáky that the KDH must reject any discussion on any form of autonomy. (slovakspectator)
