NGTT aims to boost Hungary's competitiveness, says PM

Interview

The most important aim of the National Economic and Social Council (NGTT) -- a body that replaces earlier forums for employers, unions and the government -- is to create Europe's most competitive economic environment in Hungary by 2014, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Tuesday.

One of the tasks ahead the council is to find ways to reduce the debt of the state and families and how to create more jobs, the PM said, addressing the council's inaugural meeting in Parliament in the morning.

The NGTT, which replaces among others the former Interest-Coordinating Council, will hold consultations, make proposals and advise, but will not take any decisions, under legislation approved by Parliament in the summer.
